If you are one of the 15 thousand people that follow my profile, you probably realized that I went a long time without posting anything. I was spending holidays in Brazil with my family and friends.

I returned this week, and before going back to the usual schedule of writing about economic problems, investments, and finance, I want to share with my readers one of the most absurd, laughable (if you are not involved), and somehow shocking stories that I witnessed in Brazil.

Months ago, the police of Rio de Janeiro released from captivity three men who had been kidnapped after their families requested help from the authorities to find their missing relatives.

Kidnappers locked them in a hideout inside an apartment in the Copacabana neighborhood, in the southern part of Rio.

The victim’s families asked for the help of the police after they received videos of the kidnappers torturing the men to get a R$300,000 ransom. The victims had…
